Going Home Animal Rescue and Transport (GHART) is an organization in Tulsa that assists shelters with transporting dogs to other states for adoption. The majority of these dogs come from small shelters with low rates of adoptions. These dogs are transported to other states that have strict spay and neuter laws which in turn results in a shortage of dogs compared to the number of willing adopters.
ARF of Bartlesville is providing a helping hand to assist with the vetting and transports costs of these adoptable dogs. One local shelter in particular will greatly benefit from this effort. The Nowata Animal Shelter regularly transports dogs via GHART. Before being transported, dogs must be vet checked, vaccinated and heartworm tested. Once the necessary paperwork is completed, the dogs are driven to Tulsa where they hitch a ride to their new destination point. In addition to vetting costs, there are transport fees to cover, typically $25 per animal to cover fuel costs.
If you would like to help in getting local dogs transported to their forever homes, you may donate to ARF and designate the donation to GHART. Those donors who pledge $50 or more and are employees of ConocoPhillips or Phillips 66 are eligible for gift matching at www.cybergrants.com/conocophillips/donor or www.cybergrants.com/phillips66.com. This is a great way to provide additional support to this wonderful organization.
